Dental caries is the most common chronic disease that has affected humanity ever. certainly, having cavities in your teeth makes you go crazy, dental decay destroys our days and nights. It worsen our mode. We can not enjoy life or even focus at work. It is like a nightmare.

Magic ways to prevent teeth cavitation
1- teeth brushing
2- mouth rinse
3- dental flossing
4- efficient dietary habits
5- Saliva
6- Fluoride
Now we are going to discuss these ways in detail.
1- Teeth brushing
Maybe you have heard that tooth brushing is enough to eliminate caries occurrence, but this is not true. You have to brush in a specific way for a specific time using a certain type of brush for recommended frequency a day!
First:
The right way of brushing is to move the brush in one direction from the gum side to the edges of the teeth; to massage your gum and get rid of food debris, then place the brush so that the bristles make 45° with gum margins and move it in rapid short strokes horizontally (backward and forward) to remove food particles stuck under gum margins. You should do that throughout your mouth

Second
You should get a toothbrush of medium roughness bristles and a toothpaste from a reputable company.

Third
ADA(American Dental Association) recommends teeth brushing 2 times (morning and night ) per day, each time for at least 2 minutes."2*2"

fourth
It's advisable that you replace the toothbrush after 3 months and to use an electric toothbrush.
The life span of the electric toothbrush ranges between 3:5 years and the brush is changeable every three months.

2- mouth rinse
You should gargle your mouth with a mouthwash not more than twice a day.
Take 4 teaspoons of it and swish four 30 seconds to make sure that it reaches all the areas of the mouth including proximal surfaces of teeth then spit off
Avoid its use more than 2 times as it may cause fungal infection, diabetes or even upper aerodigestive cancers.
Children under the age of 6 years shouldn't use it.
It can freshen your breath and reduce caries risk by decreasing the number of bacteria in your mouth.

3-Dental flossing
Even after brushing some food debris remain stuck in the interproximal area.
This debris can be removed by inserting the floss between 2 adjacent teeth then move it outward toward the cheek and inward toward the tongue.

4-efficient dietary habits
A balanced diet is a must not only for your teeth but also for your general health. Try to reduce food containing carbohydrates and increase fibrous ones.
Rigid vegetables and fruits like carrot and apple are very efficient in cleaning teeth from deposits and plaque.
Yogurt and milk are very useful especially at night, as they form a layer like a shield against bacteria.
The most important thing about caries occurrence is the frequency of eating. It's better to eat a large amount of food at one time than eating small amounts every hour. High frequency exposes the mouth to severe acidic challenges throughout the day. So, the teeth remain in an acidic medium for a prolonged time which favors the demineralization process and teeth cavitation.

5- Saliva
Saliva is one of the protective factors against caries. It neutralizes the acidic medium in a process known as buffering action. It has a washing effect that cleans the mouth contents. It helps maintain the integrity of gum tissue.
You can increase the salivary flow rate by chewing sugar-free gum.

6- Fluoride
Fluoride strengthens the tooth structure and Increases its acid resistance by the formation of fluorapatite crystals. The critical pH of fluorapatite  crystals is 4.5. It accelerates tooth maturation.
Fluoride is found in toothpaste, mouth rinse, fish, drinking water..etc.Avoid systemic use of Fluoride as it may cause fluorosis.
Topical Fluoride is highly recommended, it is applied by dental profession-al on teeth surfaces, so it has no hazards on general health.
The frequency of Fluoride application maybe every 3 or 6 months depending on caries risk level.

The last one is to visit the dentist for a routine check-up and early intervention.
All of that to prevent the occurrence of dental caries. So, what is caries? How does it form? Do cavities hurt? What is its effect on our health and life? That's what we will discover through this link
